Rods

The story of these photos is the community-fishing-infrastructure story of the Kalk Bay harbour and breakwater, and how its significance gets passed on to each generation of new fishermen (and women). In photo 1 - Age, the clouds, the rocks, the mountains - a testimony to the natural world and the older generation patiently waiting. In photo 2 - Youth, the youngsters running enthusiastically back to their rods, with the graffitied, pitted concrete alongside and curio-mask-sellers hustling tourists.
